A
gallery Director once asked this artist why she worked and produced.
Her answer was, "It is my time, Now." As a Virginia teacher, she
has helped thousands of people solve numerous creative problems.
Upon retirement, the time was available to pursue her artistic approaches.
During
8 years, she has concentrated in print making, putting color into
etchings by using multi-colored places, and various inking techniques.
She taught in the public schools for 27 years and enjoyed all of
it. This year she has been teaching art to pre-school and lower
and upper elementary. It was strictly a volunteer project, but she
enjoyed it with good results.
Dorothy came
to Richmond upon retirement after being a member of cooperative
galleries in Northern Virginia: "The Loft Gallery, Occoquan, Virginia,
"The Art League", Torpedo Factory, Alexandria and the Washington
Print Makers Gallery, Washington, D.C.. She likes sharing the responsibilities
of bringing art to the general public. Richmond has become her home
now and she looks forward to its energetic art spirit.
